On Monday, March 20, 2017, Students for Justice in Palestine is honored to host the first event of Palestinian Solidarity Week with host Amy Hunter in 229 Dwinelle from 5-7 PM.
Amy Hunter is the Director of Racial Justice at the YWCA chapter in St. Louis where she has done extensive work empowering women and working towards racial justice. Amy Hunter was involved in the Ferguson uprisings and will speak about state violence, occupation and their effects on child development and child trauma.
This event is meant to emphasize the intersectionalities between the Black and Brown youth of the greater St. Louis region and Palestinian youth in Palestine while living under occupation.
We will be collaborting with the Black Student Union (BSU) on campus, and we are fortunate to invite Anthony Gilmore, BSU Financial Director, to speak alongside Amy Hunter.
We will be having an open discussion and Q&A session.
