A #Workshop with Juanita Brwon, Brooke Deterline, and Lynne Henderson
October 3-24, 2017
«Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.» -James A. Baldwin
The human-made #hierarchy of value called race is woven into each of us, as well as our #societal fabric. We can all benefit from increasing our #awareness, skills, and social support to create more #inclusive and #equitable relationships. #Courageous #Leadership workshops offer the opportunity to develop these skills, which can help us all bring a #positiveimpact to our world. With a life-affirming approach based in neuroscience, this workshop shows you how to embrace complexity by managing key evolutionary and socially-based traps as well as leveraging the saving graces of what it means to be human.
In four sessions, develop the #selfawareness and #knowledge of the strategies that create (and hinder) the conditions for more inclusive relationships and environments. Each session offers time to learn and practice with evidence-based tools while working in groups on real-life situations that also teach the social science behind unconscious bias, motivated reasoning, and other forms of situational and social pressures in our lives that have us act outside of our values and unintentionally support unjust dynamics and systems.
Working in groups over an extended period allows us to see our common humanity, observe and experiment with different approaches, share and support each other, and increase our ability to help build a more caring, inclusive, and equitable society. We're in this together, so let's cultivate the compassionate courage and consciousness to face what keeps us separate and realize the reality of our oneness as a human family.
