Directamente desde Cuba y por primera vez en el Bay Area, este taller sera presentado por Myrna Dickson la co-fundadora y coordinadora de la colectiva independiente artístico-social «MirArte DiaDía». Myrna es Afrocubana, feminista, activista, artista y educadora popular.

En MirArte DiaDía, el colectivo de arte trabaja con diversos grupos sociales en situaciones vulnerables. Estos activistas utilizan la creatividad y la educación popular como vehículo para la transformación social.

Acompáñenos en La Peña para una exposición de arte, presentación interactiva, actuación y diálogo con Myrna, Angie Holiday — una estudiante de su colectivo — y otros colaboradores.

La exposicion de pinturas del artista afrocubano Erasmo Aguilar Rosely comenzará a las 7:00 p.m., el sábado 1 de julio.

La presentacion con Myrna y invitados especiales empieza a las 7:30pm

Los fondos recibidos de este taller y del arte en venta apoyaran financieramente a este colectivo de artistas en La Habana, Cuba!

AfroCuban Icons and Images: Interactive Presentation and Art Exhibition Directly from Cuba

Directly from Cuba and for the first time in the Bay Area, this workshop will be presented by Myrna Dickson, the co-founder and coordinator of the independent artistic-social collective «MirArte DiaDía». Myrna is Afrocubana, feminist, activist, artist and popular educator.

In MirArte DiaDía, the art collective works with diverse social groups in vulnerable situations. These activists use creativity and popular education as a vehicle for social transformation.

Join us at La Peña for an art exhibit, interactive presentation, performance, and dialogue with Myrna, Angie Holiday — a student from her collective — and other collaborators.

Viewing of paintings by Afrocuban artist Erasmo Aguilar Rosely will begin at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 1.

The presentation with Myrna and special guests begins at 7:30pm.

The funds received from this workshop and art for sale will financially support Myrna's art collective in La Havana, Cuba!
