It’s time to stretch, hydrate, and double-knot your dancing shoes, because San Francisco’s favorite soul party band, Midtown Social, is back with their first full-length release. Their freshly squeezed blend of California soul, funk, and rock is downright irresistible. Midtown Social is a nine-piece tour-de- force. But it’s more than just a band. Together, these nine musicians are a collaborative community of writers, arrangers and artists. When they’re on stage, they invite you into the family. The mission is to spread the message of positive social change through art and music. MTS serves up food for hungry souls—fuel for a revolution of free, open and creative thought. Deeply inspiring and guaranteed to make you sweat just as much as it makes you think, Midtown Social presents a message of solidarity and hope, voiced by a community of people who are as diverse, bold, authentic, and vulnerable as the community in which they were forged. Midtown Social asks us all to come together, to find common ground, love and camaraderie, to fight for our communities, way of life, and rights—and to stand together as one.
The Jack Mosbacher Band
«Jack Mosbacher is a star on the rise.” -San Francisco Chronicle
Jack Mosbacher, a Bay Area native and independent recording artist based in San Francisco, blends the full-throated soul of Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke with the big hook sensibility of modern roots rockers like Elvis Costello and Train. Noted for his high-energy live shows and upbeat tunes that celebrate the lighter side of life and love, Jack has been called “a joyful, exuberant take on the best of pop” by Skope Magazine and “a great example of how supreme musicianship and composition come together to create an experience that all music fans can — and will — enjoy” by IAE Magazine.
E Da Boss
DJ E Da Boss has been in the game since 1987, when he began collecting records and DJing as a youngster in his native New Jersey. Born in Newark but now based in San Francisco, Eric ‘E’ Cooke aka Eric Boss or E Da Boss is the definition of a multifaceted artist: what began with DJing and a love of hip-hop then developed into producing and eventually, singing and songwriting.
Best known as one half of soul duo Myron & E, Eric has released music on labels such as Stones Throw, Ubiquity, Timmion, Mocambo, Wah Wah 45s, and is currently also part of boogie-funk group The Pendletons as well as collaborating and putting out solo material under his own name E.
As a DJ he is one of the minds behind Bay Area's legendary 45 Sessions, has opened for or shared the stage with names such as Saun & Starr (Daptone Records), Shortcut, Just Blaze, Natasha Diggs, 45 King, Diamond D, Rich Medina, Peanut Butter Wolf, J Rocc, Rettmattic, Craig Charles, and has DJed in nights and venues such as Upstairs @ Ronnie Scott's (London), Mojo Club (Hamburg), Sweater Funk (San Francisco), Funkmosphere (L.A.), Soul Summit (Chicago) Funky Sole (L.A.) Wedding Soul (Berlin) and Mobile Mondays (NYC), to name a few.
Preserving the long lost art form of Soul music and spreading the gospel of vinyl records wherever he goes, DJ E Da Boss is a veteran and a connoisseur. Funk, soul, boogie, disco, breaks: they're all in the mix, but to really understand you have to see him at work…
