From the Civil Rights Movement of the 20th Century to today's resistance against the Trump agenda, national movements have altered the course of history by organizing diverse communities around common causes — and changing hearts and minds.
At this first installment of our Organzing 101 Workshop series, we'll learn how local communities can make national impacts on policy, public opinion, and election outcomes through organizing campaigns. We'll draw from the work of labor unions, who've mastered the art of organzing to achieve landmark wins for workers' rights.
By examining the campaigns of UNITE HERE: Local 2, the hotel and restaurant workers union, we'll break down the fundamentals of organizing to understand how local people-power can reach across communities, cities, and states to achieve change. Labor activist and LGBTQ rights leader Cleve Jones, alongside Local 2 organizers and staff, will walk us through our case study and leave you with the tools you need to fight for your rights.
