Caitlin Glennon Band / Minor Birds / Zack Bateman at Ivy Room
Caitlin Glennon Band:
With two full-length albums under her belt (Hard Learned Truths , Separate Grooves ) and a kick-ass live band, East Bay singer-songwriter Caitlin Glennon brings her version of indie rock to the stage: pop-punk, rock & roll, lyrics-driven ballads, and a few all-out jams for good measure.
Influenced by the likes of The Bevis Frond, Buzzcocks, PJ Harvey, and Hüsker Dü, she takes her complaints on airline travel («TSA Patdown”), gives a nod to throwback youth party culture (»Young, Sassy & Drunk”), and shares the pains of being an artist in the real world («Wanting In», «Hard Learned Truths”) with the help of her band.
She takes care of the vocals, keys, and guitar, while Alex Kenivel (Never Even, CHT, Inside Voice) lays down a mean lead guitar. Svend Nielsen (Skinny Knockdown, Footslog) keeps the groove on bass, and Jimmy Davidson (Calvary Chapel) gets your ass moving on drums.
“She's actually a careful, methodical artist with a folksinger lilt, and a cache of scrappy rock riffs that bring out — or jar with — the sweet tincture of her voice. It's a fascinating juxtaposition.” – East Bay Express
Glennon's songs have been played on KALX and LA's The Independent FM radio.
From the Mountains, to the Bay, to San Diego… Minor Birds are once again based home in Oakland.
Originally built by Chelsea and Joel Wilde, Minor Birds blends classical piano, guitar, stand up bass, and various instruments with a modern twist of dramatic indie pop and touch of goth and grunge.
A classically trained pianist (and self-taught multi-instrumentalist), Chelsea Wilde has been playing music in different capacities since a young age, but after a series of tragic events in 2008, followed by an almost year long dry spell, thoughts and talents took shape as Minor Birds. Pulling influences from everything encountered or experienced, she does not set out to copy or tweak any one sound, but seek to create original compositions that build and amplify the mood, and to weave tales that are both otherworldly, yet familiar to many.
