A Bay Area Native, Pitchford recorded his debut Familiar Places in both Hayward and his new home base, Austin. A rotating cast of bands and collaborators contributes to eclectic studio and live sounds, combining elements of West Coast jam music, Southern rock, and the folk country native to Pitchford’s professional headquarters in Central Texas. Pitchford’s follow-up EP, Pachoncito, demonstrates both a maturation in composition as well as a deeper dive into the opportunities for complex production strategies at Rattle Trap Audio, a North Austin studio directed by Brian Douglas Phillips.
As his following grows in the Live Music Capital of the World, Pitchford returns to the Peninsula regularly to bring fans and friends together, and to recognize those supporters who offered love and help from the outset of his career.
Molly with Charles
Molly with Charles is a collaboration between singer Molly Arizona and composer Charles Nutrivore. They first collaborated in May 2016 with the single «Thank U 4 Existing,» and their musical chemistry was so natural that they immediately wanted to work on an EP-length project. Their first project, q and m, was an album about falling in and out of love, written from both the perspective of a girl and a boy. In their own words: «Hopefully this collection of songs can soundtrack the poetry of being newly together or freshly alone.»
The band draws a lot of inspiration from the exacting, soulful minimalism of artists like Sade, Frank Ocean and John Mayer; with each song, they try to whittle down all unnecessary layers until all that is left is the naked essence of the emotion they were after. Their work is also a testament to the diversity of the Bay Area music scene, with contributions from Vacaville jazz trumpeters, South Berkeley rappers and Oakland guitarists.
The Airlings are an indie group from Waterford, California consisting of a few members from the recent Bay Area project, 100 House. The lineup includes guitarist/vocalist Levi Minson, guitarist Miles Schoneberger, bassist Kurt Walls, and drummer Daniel Baylis. The Airlings started in 2013 as a project based in the Central Valley of California, but they are now coming back after several years of hiatus which was taken for various life reasons. A new EP is set for release this November, as they return from their long break of playing music together.
