The New Parish
$15 ADV / $20 DOS / Age 18 And Up
Dirtwire sits on the back porch of Americana’s future, conjuring up a swamptronic space cowboy sound with traditional instrumentation, global percussion, and electronic soundscapes. Comprised of multi-instrumentalists David Satori (Beats Antique) and Evan Fraser (Hamsa Lila; BOLO), each performance brings the audience to a mysterious crossroads at an imaginative and seductive moment in time. The result is a rebirth of Americana and beacon for a post-millennial return to downhome goodness.
The Dirtwire duo met at the California Institute of the Arts while studying World Music Composition. Both members of other successful music projects – Satori as part of the sensational electronic dynamo group Beats Antique and Fraser at the helm of world groove bands Hamsa Lila and Stellamara – their unique chemistry led to a continued musical friendship throughout the years. In 2012 Satori and Fraser released the debut Dirtwire album, attracting everyone from electronic dance junkies to traditional world and roots music toe-tappers. With this first release, Dirtwire was introduced to the world and a new family was founded. Satori and Fraser get down as Dirtwire at select theater and festival stages across the US.
Since 2009, Oakland, California based CANDELARIA has been moving dance floors all over the West Coast and Midwest with their unique sound. Candelaria’s recordings and live performances are unforgettable, as they combine infectious, soulful Colombian cumbia rhythms with vibrant horns, incendiary country guitar, powerful female-fronted vocals, and a dose of Jamaican dub technique in real-time using live effects. With all of these elements, Candelaria has developed their own high-energy sound that explodes with contagious dance grooves.
San Francisco based izzy*wise aka Isaac Weiser first started performing music in his Dad’s Klezmer band as a teenager. As the multi instrumentalist began learning new instruments and collecting records, so came the influx of different styles and cultures of music. Having played in many bands performing reggae, afrobeat, funk, rock, hip hop, klezmer, drum n bass, and latin styles this versatile performer began producing his own music and djing in 2007. Combining his knowledge of multiple instruments, sound reinforcement, and his love of mixing music from different cultures, we now have the electro world dub mashup that is izzy*wise’s music.
