RESILIENT RESPONSE: A Disaster Preparedness workshop, dinner, and concert to raise funds for Activist Colton Jones
••RESILIENT DISASTER PREPAREDNESS••
Bay Area folks — we have a dire need to prepare for earthquakes, fires, and let’s b real the collapse of capitalism. A massive earthquake is 99% guaranteed within the next 25 years, and we've already seen the devastation of local fires. Rather than panic, let's get prepared. And let's get prepared for RESILIENCE — beyond short-term, individualist and resource-consuming approaches, this workshop centers whole-human, whole-community responses. We need both the standard info and rad approaches.
In honor of Colton’s life commitments and also what we want to see more of in our communities, this will be a radical E-Prep workshop.
We will start with a panel discussion between both traditional and alternative emergency preparedness practitioners, and then do breakout stations with further holistic approaches, such as herbal first aid, trauma healing, equity post-disaster. We’ll end with a dope concert because music and celebration is vital to resilience!
••WHO'S COLTON JONES?••
This event combines two big needs: emergency preparedness in the Bay Area and supporting a beloved activist who needs extensive medical support. Colton Jones, 24, is a Permaculturist, healer and justice worker who suffered a major asthma attack as a result of smoke inhalation from the fires. Blood flow stopped to his brain, and he was technically dead for 10 minutes before doctors were able to bring him back. He has been in a coma in ICU since that time. He is a rare light on this earth, and all folks deserve care but we especially need him on this planet in these times! The medical expenses are very high. We are rallying together as folks who care about Colton and care about the movements that Colton touches.
