TWC will be one of many groups showing up at our local Verizon store to protest Ajit Pai's attempt to repeal net neutrality and hand over internet governance to corporations like Verizon.
Net neutrality is under attack yet again. Contrary to the demands of almost all consumers and tech workers, the corporate-controlled FCC has nearly gutted the regulations required to maintain an open internet.
We give our labor to the internet because we believe the internet should be a commons for all to thrive in. Our bosses exploit our talent and goodwill to wring as much profit out of the internet as possible. This contradiction will have to be resolved someday. As tech workers have yet to organize, the balance of power is strongly in favor of the corporate shareholders. While our bosses control internet infrastructure, the open internet will always be in danger.
While we are fighting to keep net neutrality regulations today, we know that there are no lasting compromises with the bosses. Essential infrastructure like the internet must be brought under democratic control, and tech workers must lead this effort. Our labor keeps the internet running. When we are organized, we will have an open internet or we will go on strike.
