88 Fingers Louie:

Melodic punk rock band from Chicago, USA, formed in 1993. In 1994, the band signed to Fat Wreck Chords, then abruptly broke up while on a North American tour in 1996. In 1998, guitarist Dan Wleklinski & vocalist Denis Buckley wanted to continue with the band, and added Joe Principe (bass) & John Carroll (drums). Together, this lineup released Back On The Streets in 1998 before again disbanding. In October of 2009, 88 Fingers Louie played a reunion show at Chicago's annual Riot Fest. The lineup featured founding members Wleklinski and Buckley with a different supporting lineup than p...revious recordings. After a few years of playing primarily festivals across the globe, the band announced the release of Thank You For Being a Friend in summer of 2017 on Bird Attack Records, which was their first studio-recorded output in nearly 20 years.

Overwhelming Colorfast:

A piledriving pop-punk band from the San Francisco suburb of Antioch, CA, Overwhelming Colorfast was a vehicle for Bob Reed, who was the band's sole permanent member. Reed looked like D. Boon from the Minutemen and sang like Bob Mould in his Hüsker Dü days, but there was a Buzzcocks-like love for sweet pop mixed in with his punky guitar roar.

Year of the Fist:

Rock N Roll out of Oakland CA. We've got past members of Dolorata, Fabulous Disaster, Neutralboy and The Lean. But we sure as hell don't sound like any of those bands!!

“YEAR OF THE FIST — Death Breath Light & Pain: I must admit I should know more about this band than I do know because Squeaky Hell, a really cool lass who I've lots of respect, plays for this band. What I will tell you is they play raw Punk Rock N Roll to a very high standard. In fact they're one of the best bands to come out of California in a while without a doubt. This 10-track debut album is certainly well worth investing in if raw Punk Rock N Roll is your thing. Every track is worthy of a listen but the ones that stuck out included 'Death Of Me', 'Never Go Home', 'Killer On The Road' and 'I Want Your Love'. Yeah go on and give this band some support!"

New Noise Magazine
Five years ago, a long-simmering idea came to fruition: a magazine, unbound by the shackles of genre, covering the best music from bands worth discovering and the art, industry, and scenes that surround it. Now, on the anniversary of that momentous day, New Noise is teaming up with the Ivy Room to kick off our monthly celebration of the underground.
