Good Culture went underground for the winter so that we could reemerge this summer with more art, more fam, MORE LIFE.

On June 14th, come get your life as GC travels through the soulful sounds of house, Afro-house, and R&B with resident DJ Wild Man accompanied by master instrumentalists Fino and Kwic Time. Featuring elevating vocals from Oakland’s own Rashida Chase, luminous movements from LINES Ballet dancer Babatunji, and more! As always, host Jasmine Fuego will tend to the garden of community. She might even make an altar to Drake…

More about the artists:

Rashida Chase is an Oakland native, a vocalist, and culture, education, and wellness advocate who believes that music is a healing force and a unifier of people. She recognizes the power of inspiration and creativity that music holds and strives to create experiences that soothe, heal, and inspire her audience to tap into that power and realize their full selves.

Babatunji was born in Portland, Oregon but raised on the big island of Hawaii. He received his formal dance training from Center Stage Dance Studio and the University of Hawaii in Hilo before moving to San Francisco to train at the LINES Ballet Training Program on full scholarship. Babatunji has performed works by diverse choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Amanda Miller, Gregory Dawson, and Maurya Kerr. He has performed overseas in Asia and all over Europe and danced with Philein/ZiRu productions, Maurya Kerr's tinypistol, Dawson|Wallace Dance Project and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. In 2015 Babatunji was honored with the Princess Grace Foundation – USA and Chris Hellman Dance awards for his promising future in dance and the performing arts.

Jasmine Fuego is a singer, dancer and ARTivist deeply committed to creating art in service to justice, self empowerment and liberation. In 2014, she co-founded the Permaculture Action Network,an organization that bridges art and ecology through action, with a group of community organizers and environmental educators. During the school year she teaches mindfulness & emotional intelligence to K-12th graders in Richmond, Ca with the Mindful Life Project. She has hosted and curated spaces at events such as the North American Permaculture Convergence, Symbiosis Gathering and Oregon Eclipse 2017.
