Two-time GRAMMY Winner Cécile McLorin Salvant is the most celebrated young vocalist in jazz. She returns following her latest Best Jazz Vocal Album win for her 2017 Mack Avenue release, Dreams and Daggers, with these intimate duo performances with virtuoso pianist Sullivan Fortner. Possessing a deep, velvety voice, rhythmic poise, and a sublime feel for the blues, Salvant won the 2001 Thelonious Monk International Vocals Competition and drew the attention of early collaborators Jacky Terrasson and Wynton Marsalis.

Her 2015 Mack Avenue album, For One to Love, won Salvant her first GRAMMY for Best Jazz Vocal Album and set the stage for the Miami-born French-Haitian singer’s latest and most expansive project. Recorded partially at New York’s legendary Village Vanguard, 2017’s double disc Dreams and Daggers netted the singer her second GRAMMY nod, described by Stereophile’s Fred Kaplan as “the best jazz vocal album in a decade, maybe in longer than that.” A highlight of Dreams and Daggers is Salvant’s piquant duet with Fortner on Spencer Williams’ winking, double entendre laden “You’ve Got To Give Me Some” — a 1929 hit for Bessie Smith. One of the great jazz pianists of his generation, Fortner is a recipient of a Leonore Annenberg Arts Fellowship, the 2015 Cole Porter Fellowship from the American Pianists Association, and the 2016 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists. An established bandleader and collaborator with Roy Hargrove, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Wynton Marsalis, the pianist revisits his partnership with Salvant for these magical evenings.

«Ms. McLorin Salvant is as serious as a library, and never corny...she radiates authority and delivers a set with almost a dramatic arc.» -The New York Times
